Zoom Discussion: 29 Sept – What sort of public ownership do we need?

What sort of public ownership do we need? How much, how wide and how would it be run?

Monday 29 September at 7:30. Register here.

This will be the second in series of discussions focussing on the socialist policies that are needed in YourParty.

Is there an alternative to the capitalist profit system? What is it?

Should YourParty stand for democratic common ownership of the means of production – the land, the minerals in it, the crops and vegetation on it, the waters, the factories, the machinery, transport, science and technology?

How far should common ownership extend? Just to the ‘public utilities’ like energy, water, health, public transport? Or to all aspects of the economy, covering all production of goods and services?

Will YourParyt limit its programme to partial nationalisation and a mixed (capitalist) economy?

How would that work?

How will the world’s majority make sure things are run in their interests unless they own all these things?

Should any person or group be able to make a profit out of the labour of others?

Nick Wrack and Janet Sillett will introduce a discussion on how the production of goods and the delivery of services could be planned, managed and run in the interests of all under democratic common ownership instead of the existing capitalist profit system.
