Socialists have no allegiance to, or support for, the authoritarian, undemocratic theocratic regime that rules in Iran.
But the idea that the US-Israel war unleashed against Iran is anything to do with supporting the struggle for democracy by the Iranian people is completely wrong.
It is about US-Israeli determination to eradicate an obstacle to complete military, strategic and economic domination of the entire Middle East and prepare for the coming miltary conflict with China.
Socialists must oppose and condemn the attacks and increase our international struggle to end the capitalist system which has led to this attempt by the US to maintain its declining position in the world, which is the underlying reason for this war.
The people who will suffer mostly will be the ordinary citizens of Iran who Trump claims to be supporting.
Trump has stated that this attack is a preemptive strike to thwart immanents threats against the US people from the Iranian regime. This is a blatant lie and is illegal in international law.
Here in the UK we must oppose any support for this attack being given by the UK government.
We need to see protests against the attacks across the world including in the USA to remove the authoritarian, undemocratic war-criminal Trump.
